The Institute
Author: Reynold Macpherson
Published: 2015
The IRSEA collaborated with the Institute of Senior Educational Administrators (ISEA) to produce a definitive history of ISEA.
ISEA was the registered union for the most senior non-school based position in the NSW public education service. It also fulfilled a crucial role in the professional learning and collegial support of its members.
While ISEA and IRSEA are separate organisations – one a union and the other a community of interest – in the past, there has been a ‘natural’ progression of many members from the ISEA into the IRSEA (under its previous names) as they retired.
The Institute is a definitive history, embedded in a sociological and political examination of ISEA and the power it exerted in NSW public education over more than 100 years.
