Membership application guide

How to join IRSEA

1.     Please check that you are eligible using our definition of a retired senior educational administrator.

2.     Download (see below), complete and submit the Application for Membership form. 

The Application for Membership form on this website (see at the bottom of this page) can be downloaded and completed electronically (i.e. by typing directly into the form) and emailed to the IRSEA Secretary at the email address provided on the form. This is the preferred method.

If you are unable to complete the form electronically, you can fill in the form by hand and post it to the Secretary at the postal address provided on the form.

The form does not require a signature. 

Information required on the form

Name:

We require your given name and surname, but if you have a name that you prefer to be known as, please indicate this under ‘Preferred name’.

Eligibility:

Membership is open to former employees of the NSW Department of Education and TAFE NSW who, at any time during their career, held a position as a Chief Education Officer (Education Teaching Service) or higher, and equivalent TAFE NSW positions. See the Constitution for specific details or contact the Secretary if you are uncertain.

Please do not forget to include your email address as this is our primary method of communication with you.

IRSEA Newsletters (currently four editions per year) will be sent by email. If you do not have an email, they will be sent by post to the address you have listed above. Please note that receiving the Newsletters by email saves IRSEA the relatively high costs of printing and postage.

Personal information:

Exact dates (day, month, and year) greatly assist us in maintaining our records.
Your spouse/partner’s name is optional but it is helpful to us for social and welfare matters.

Privacy:

IRSEA maintains a Contact Directory listing names of members and their contact details. Members’ personal information from this Directory may be available to other members on request. The Contact Directory can be emailed to a member and/or a physical copy can be inspected on request. This information is strictly for members’ use only and is not for further distribution.

The Contact Directory is not currently available on the IRSEA website or to non-members due to privacy limitations. 

Prospective members must indicate on the Application for Membership form whether they consent to their contact details being included in the Contact Directory and available to other members.

The Newsletter and the IRSEA website contain photographs of members in professional and/or social settings. Prospective members must indicate on the Application for Membership form whether they consent to having their photographs included in the Newsletter and on the IRSEA website.

Annual membership subscription fee:

The membership fee for the calendar year is shown on the Application Form and falls due on 1 January each year. Subscriptions must be paid by the Annual General Meeting. The subscription fee is reviewed annually. Membership renewal notices are sent to members in January. Reminders are sent as necessary.

Payment can be made by:

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT): IRSEA—BSB: 062 300—Account 10466684 with your name as the reference

or by cheque made out to IRSEA and crossed Not Negotiable. Please note that an increasing number of Australian banks do not provide cheque services.

Please indicate the payment method that you have used.

Finally:

Please confirm your name and date your application in the spaces provided and email (or post) your completed form to the IRSEA Secretary.
