Public Education Foundation and the NSW Department of Education.

Our story

The Institute of Retired Senior Educational Administrators has a long history of providing collegiality, friendship and support to retired senior educational administrators from the NSW Department of Education and TAFE NSW. More recently, IRSEA has moved to complement its support to members by taking action to enable members to contribute to discussions on educational issues, and for IRSEA to engage more fully with educational authorities, particularly the NSW Department of Education.

These purposes are reflected in IRSEA’s objectives which are:

  • preserving friendship and a sense of identity among those senior people who have spent their professional endeavours in the field of public education.
  • providing a contact network, and affording members opportunities to support each other and to enhance their welfare and quality of life in regard to retirement
  • supporting Stewart House, the NSW Public Schools’ charity since 1931
  • providing members with a forum for discussing educational issues
  • offering the benefits of the members’ experiences and wisdom to policy makers and senior officers in public education and to the wider community
  • contributing to the body of knowledge about the evolution of public education in New South Wales.

To honour its commitments to supporting retired senior educational administrators and to contribute to improving education for our young people, IRSEA is re-evaluating its aims, communication processes and activities.

This process has commenced and will continue in the future to ensure that IRSEA becomes a more dynamic and respected organisation that meets the needs of its members, and makes a positive impact on the future of education.
